Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the type of body work most people are familiar
with and is often covered by extended health care plans. All registered
massage therapists (RMT or MT) are trained in Swedish massage
and have undergone extensive schooling and examination to become
a regulated health professional. Using techniques to stretch and
realign muscle and other connective tissue, increase circulation,
encourage the removal of waste product from muscles, and “reset”
the nervous system, massage therapy affects all systems of the
body. This type of massage is not only effective for stress management
but also many types of musculo-skeletal conditions such as:
- low back pain
- muscle strain and spasm
- ligament sprain
- headaches
- neck and shoulder tension
- tendinitis
- nerve compression syndromes
- and more
Pregnancy massage
Swedish massage for women in all stages of pregnancy as well as post-natal care for new moms. Michelle offers healing support throughout the pregnancy and labour with not just massage, but also remedial exercises and homecare recommendations. It is extremely effective in relieving common discomforts associated with postural and hormonal changes during pregnancy such as:
- fatigue
- leg cramps
- joint pain
- muscle strain
- swelling in hands and feet
- sciatic nerve pain
Myofascial Release
“Dry massage” incorporated into a swedish massage treatment, that is designed to loosen the covering surrounding muscle, which can often cause restriction and adhere to surrounding structures following injury or overuse.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy treats taut, hyperirritable bands in a muscle that often accompany musculo-skeletal injury, and create very specific referral pain patterns. They are often the cause of tension headaches.
